Biography

NoteCARDS:

  • A former undrafted free agent out of Sioux Falls (2018), is a two-time team captain and 2019 Pro Bowl alternate who signed a three-year contract this offseason.
  • In his first four seasons (2018-21) with the Cardinals, has appeared in 58 games (three starts) and totaled 25 tackles, 7.0 sacks, 14 QB hits, eight tackles for loss and a fumble recovery on defense while adding 40 tackles, three punt deflections, a fumble recovery on a fake punt and a TD on a blocked punt on special teams.
  • Named a team captain for the second-straight year and played in 14 games (first three career starts) during the regular season, totaling 14 tackles, a tackle for loss, four QB hits and a fumble recovery on defense in 2021. Also finished the year with a team-best 13 special teams tackles.
  • Named a team captain for the first time in his career 2020. After not playing a snap on defense in his first two seasons with the Cardinals, earned a spot in the rotation in '20 and responded with 7.0 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 10 QB hits in just 93 defensive snaps played. He set a new franchise single-season record for the most sacks by a player who entered the league undrafted.
  • Named a Pro Bowl alternate on special teams in 2019 after posting a team-high 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.
  • Led all NFL rookies with 388 total snaps on special teams in 2018, trailing only Jets WR Terrence Brooks (395) among all players.
  • Finished the 2018 season with eight special teams tackles and scored his first career TD in the season finale at Seattle when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. It was his first TD since his senior year at Crystal Lake South (IL) High School when he returned a fumble 80 yards for a TD.
  • The Cardinals 2019 Salute to Service nominee, Gardeck has done more community work through the team that last three seasons than any other player. Most recently, he represented the Cardinals at the Guardian Games to benefit the Special Olympics.
