The signings are ongoing as free agency heads into a second week, and the Cardinals are getting a return man.
Both kickoff and punt returns should be accounted for with the Cardinals reportedly agreeing with Devin Duvernay to a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million. Duvernay played for the Bears last season, averaging 26.7 yards a kick return and 11.0 yards per punt return.
Duvernay is going into his seventh season. Originally playing in Baltimore, he averaged 13.8 yards a punt return in 2021 to earn All-Pro returner honors as well as the Pro Bowl, and made the Pro Bowl the following season as well. For his career, he averages 11.8 yards a punt return and 25.4 yards a kick return.
His primary position is wide receiver, although he had just five targets last season, making two catches for 26 yards and a touchdown. The 5-foot-11, 202-pounder did have seasons of 33 and 37 receptions when he was playing for the Ravens.
The acquisition likely means the Cardinals will move on from wide receiver Greg Dortch, a free agent who was the team's return man last season.
