Like the last time they were looking for a head coach, the Cardinals have an eye on a candidate who will be coaching in that year's Super Bowl.
Multiple reports have the Cardinals interviewing for a second time Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Piecing together what is out there, Kubiak will host both the Cardinals and Raiders -- the final two teams that still need to fill head coaching spots -- in Seattle this weekend. Those teams have apparently told other candidates there is still one candidate who needs to be interviewed.
The Seahawks leave for the Super Bowl on Sunday, so such interviews would need to be done by Saturday evening.
In 2023, the Cardinals interviewed Jonathan Gannon the day after the Super Bowl and quickly hired him, although that cycle had the Cards in a different spot because GM Monti Ossenfort had been hired after the initial coaching interview window. This time around, the Cardinals already talked to Kubiak, allowing them to have a visit with him despite his team still being alive for a title.
The Cardinals have reportedly had second interviews with Rams offensive coordinator Mike LeFleur and Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, as well as talking in person to some other candidates (including Raheem Morris and Ron Rivera.) There figures to be more clarity by the end of this weekend.
