Snap Judgments For The Seahawks Game

Simon becomes every-down guy for first time at linebacker

Two weeks ago, rookie linebacker Cody Simon had played a total of three defensive snaps in his NFL career. Then Mack Wilson Sr. got hurt in the second half of the game at Dallas, and Simon got 20 more.

With Wilson sidelined Sunday at Seattle, Simon, the team's fourth-round pick, ended up being the only Cardinal to play every one of the team's 62 defensive snaps against the Seahawks. He had six tackles and a pass defensed in his starting debut.

On the flip side, with the game out of had, safety Budda Baker sat out his first defensive snaps all season. Baker missed six snaps, putting him behind Simon and fellow rookie Denzel Burke. The cornerback played 61, his season-high percentage of 98.

Defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson (36 snaps) also played a season-high percentage at 58. Before suffering his knee injury, rookie Walter Nolen III played 35 snaps after totaling 37 in his first game.

The way the game played out, the overall snap distribution was off. Cornerback Garrett Williams played a season-low 51 snaps, in part because the Seahawks only dropped back to pass 13 times. Defensive lineman Darius Robinson, who left with a groin injury, played a career-low 19 snaps.

Wide receiver Michael Wilson played a season-high 70 snaps, one more than Marvin Harrison Jr. -- the first time this season Wilson topped Harrison when both were healthy. With Zay Jones getting hurt, wide receiver Semi Fehoko played 21 snaps -- five more than he had played total this season.
