Cardinals Claim OL Roy Mbaeteka From Waivers

Team can use international exemption with move

The Cardinals have added offensive lineman Roy Mbaeteka, most recently of the Browns.

The Cardinals were awarded offensive lineman Roy Mbaeteka off waivers on Tuesday, not only giving them another body up front but also filling the international spot vacated when Valentin Senn was put on IR.

Mbaeteka has spent time with the Giants, Bears and Browns since coming into the league in 2022. The 6-foot-8, 330-pounder is a native of Nigeria. He did not play high school or college football.

He arrived to the Giants via the NFL's International Pathway Program.

Senn had been the Cardinals' international player before suffering a season-ending neck injury in camp. Senn, from Austria, had played college football at Colorado and Connecticut.

All teams are allowed an international player exemption on their practice squad during the season. Mbaeteka figures to take that spot barring a sudden jump on the depth chart.

The Cardinals needed a body after second-year tackle Christian Jones hurt his knee Saturday against the Chiefs. Coach Jonathan Gannon said Jones will "miss some time" because of the injury.
