Multiple running back moves as Benson's window comes to end

The Cardinals have signed running back Corey Kiner off the Vikings' practice squad.

The Cardinals added a running back to the roster on Tuesday -- but it wasn't Trey Benson. Not yet.

The team signed Corey Kiner off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, while announcing the release of running back Jermar Jefferson. Kiner, a rookie out of the University of Cincinnati, was with the 49ers in preseason before signing with Minnesota in late September.

In addition to letting Jefferson go, the Cardinals also release two running backs -- Sincere McCormick and Montrell Johnson Jr. -- from the practice squad.

The Cardinals added linebacker Eku Leota to the practice squad as well.

Kiner joins Bam Knight and Michael Carter as healthy running backs. Emari Demercado is still battling an ankle injury. Benson, who did not practice Thursday and Friday last week as he tries to ramp up from a knee injury while on IR, has until Dec. 10 before he has to be activated to the 53-man roster. If he is not, he stays on IR the balance of the season.
