Jason Licht Made VP Of Player Personnel

Front-office promotion comes after Keim goes to general manager

Jason Licht was promoted to vice president of player personnel Tuesday.


The restructuring of the Cardinals front office continued Tuesday.

Jason Licht was promoted to vice president of player personnel, assuming the role Steve Keim vacated when he was named general manager last week.

Licht is in his second stint with the Cardinals after returning to the team last season as the director of player personnel. He was a Cardinals' personnel executive in 2008.

"Jason has been a valuable member of our organization with an outstanding and well-earned reputation throughout the league," Keim said in a statement. "In this new role he will take on an increased role in both college and pro personnel evaluation and also with contract negotiations."

Prior to rejoining the Cardinals, Licht was the director of pro personnel for the New England Patriots from 2009-2011. He was a finalist for the Chicago Bears' general manager job open in 2012 that eventually went to Phil Emery.

Licht was also on the Patriots' player personnel staff from 1999-2003. He helped built New England's roster that played in Super Bowl XLVI. It was Licht's fourth Super Bowl, joining his trips with New England in 2002, Philadelphia in 2004 and the Cardinals in 2008.

Licht was the Eagles' vice president of player personnel from 2003-07.

Licht's NFL career began in 1995 when he was an assistant in the Miami Dolphins' college and pro personnel scouting departments for two years. He also worked for National Football Scouting (1997) and the Carolina Panthers (1998).

He was a walk-on linebacker at the University of Nebraska before completing his career at Nebraska-Wesleyan, where he was named an all-conference defensive tackle in 1993 and 1994.
