For the second consecutive year, Jonah Williams' season ends on Injured Reserve.

Jonathan Gannon announced that the starting right tackle is set to undergo shoulder surgery that will have him sidelined. Williams injured his shoulder in the Week 10 outing against the Seahawks.

"He's a starter, good player," Gannon said. "Just he wasn't going to be able to play the rest of the year."

Williams had knee surgery last season that ended his first year with the Cardinals.

To fill the open roster spot, the Cardinals signed running back Jermar Jefferson to the active roster from the practice squad. The team inked a deal to put running back Sincere McCormick on the practice squad. Jefferson's move to the active roster puts a spotlight on the health status of Trey Benson.

The second-year running back returned to practice on Wednesday after missing six games on Injured Reserve. Gannon said he wanted to see how Benson practiced on Friday before making a decision on if he'll make his return to the 53-man roster.

"One day at a time," Gannon said. "We'll get him out there today."

The news to Williams marks the second major shakeup on the offensive line after the Cardinals benched right guard Isaiah Adams for Will Hernandez. Now with Williams done for the season, veteran tackle Kelvin Beachum will take over as the starting right tackle. Although, there's no certainty that it will be this weekend.

Beachum missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a groin injury he sustained against the 49ers. Rookie Josh Fryar could be poised for his first start this weekend against the Jaguars.

"He's a guy that has really improved his game," Gannon said of Fryar, adding that he had spent most of the season as a scout team player, blocking against the likes of Josh Sweat and Zaven Collins. "He's blocking good players. I think he's continuing to get better. Player development never stops, even during the season."
