Snap Judgments For The 49ers Game

Rookie Jordan Burch has earned significant playing time

A game after playing 85 snaps on defense, the Cardinals only played 65 in San Francisco, the defense's lowest total of the season. And for all the conversation about who the team has at outside linebacker -- Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Zaven Collins -- it was a rookie who got the most work at the position.

Jordan Burch played 38 snaps, his 58.5 percent his season-high and the second straight game in which Burch was the outside linebacker with the most snaps.

Browning (30) and Sweat (27) played a season-low in total snaps. Collins had 29 for a defense that is tied for fifth in scoring defense in the NFL and did enough to keep the Cardinals undefeated, even though it didn't work out.

For all the concern about Max Melton's knee after the Panthers game, the cornerback played 64 of a possible 65 snaps. On the other side, with Will Johnson hurt, Denzel Burke (33) and Kei'Trel Clark (31) essentially split time.

Rookie safety Kitan Crawford (6) and rookie linebacker Cody Simon (2) played their first defensive snaps. Rookie offensive lineman Josh Fryar also played offensive snaps for the first time, although all nine were as an extra tight end in jumbo packages.
