Tyrann Mathieu is going to make a road trip with the Cardinals.
So too will Patrick Peterson and Markus Golden.
No, coordinator Nick Rallis isn't planning on reconstituting the 2015 defense. Mathieu, Peterson and Golden will be the Cardinals legends in the group hosting the inaugural journey through Cardinals Premier Travel for the Nov. 3 "Monday Night Football" game in Dallas against the Cowboys.
As part of the travel package, fans will have a chance to mingle with the trio of now-retired stars. Mathieu just announced his NFL retirement in late July, and Peterson had come back to Arizona during the summer to retire as part of the Cardinals community. Golden has already been part of the team's legends program and has appeared on various platforms.
The chance to be part of the trip is dwindling. Of the original 288 packages available – of which there are three tiers -- only 20 remain. For all the details, go to the Cardinals Premier Travel page.
The trip includes round-trip transportation on a plane identical to the one in which the current Cardinals will travel to Dallas, as well as hotel accommodations, a welcome reception with the aforementioned legends, a pre-game tailgate experience at the stadium, and game tickets.
Mathieu was drafted by the Cardinals in 2013 and became one of the great stories in team history as well as one of its best players in his five seasons. He finished his career with stints in Houston, Kansas City and New Orleans, but has talked about how important it had been to start his career in Arizona.
His return to work with the team is another in a line of former players and the organization reconnecting, following Peterson, Adrian Wilson and Anquan Boldin – who sat with owner Michael Bidwill in a suite during the preseason finale against the Raiders.
That doesn't even include the return of Calais Campbell to the active roster, for a team trending upward heading into the regular season.
