For the first time since the 2023 season finale, the Cardinals will have outside linebacker BJ Ojulari.
But they will also be without inside linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. for a month.
Ojulari, who has returned from multiple ligament tears suffered in early August of 2024, was activated to the roster from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday. The Cardinals already had an open roster spot for Ojulari. But Wilson, who hurt his ribs against the Cowboys and sat out last week's game in Seattle, was put on Injured Reserve, meaning he will have to sit out at least four more games.
The earliest Wilson can return is the Dec. 14 game at Houston.
Replacing Wilson on the roster is linebacker Jared Bartlett, who was promoted from the practice squad.
The Cardinals also elevated cornerback Darren Hall and tight end Pharoah Brown from the practice squad for the game.
The loss of Wilson is considerable, given how well he has played this season. Rookie Cody Simon has been Wilson's replacement in the lineup. But the long-anticipated return of Ojulari brings back another option at outside linebacker, helpful this week given that Baron Browning will miss the game with a concussion.
"You see (Ojulari) getting a little bit better every day," coach Jonathan Gannon said. "When it comes to the drill work, and how it correlates with the team work.
"What I really appreciate, he broke down the team (Thursday), and the team was really juiced up. It goes to show you they know how long of a road that was for him. Football players want to play football. When they can't play football, there is no way to say it doesn't suck. It's hard. And it's mentally and physically taxing. It's emotionally taxing. (It's good) to have him back out there with a smile on his face ... giving it his all."
