Cardinals Activate Bilal Nichols From PUP List To Help D-Line

Veteran has been sidelined since Week 6 of 2024

The Cardinals have added defensive lineman Bilal Nichols to the active roster.
The Cardinals have added defensive lineman Bilal Nichols to the active roster.

After the Cardinals defensive line had gone through a series of injury setbacks, the unit got some good news on Saturday.

The team activated veteran Bilal Nichols from the Physically Unable to Perform list, giving him a chance to play in a game for the first time since Week 6 of 2024 after dealing with a neck injury. The Cardinals had an open roster spot for Nichols to take.

There was some potential bad news Saturday, however. The team added cornerback Max Melton to the injury report as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans after Melton suffered a hamstring issue during practice. Rookie cornerback Denzel Burke was also added to the injury report on Friday with a knee injury and he too is questionable.

The Cards are hopeful fellow cornerback Will Johnson is able to return this week after missing two games with a groin injury, although Johnson remains questionable himself.

For Sunday, the Cardinals also elevated defensive lineman Zach Carter and offensive lineman Nick Leverett from the practice squad.

Carter and Nichols are needed, with the Cardinals already ruling defensive lineman Darius Robinson out for the game with a pectoral injury. Justin Jones (IR) and Walter Nolen III (PUP) have been out all season as well.

Nichols, signed as a free agent before the 2024 season, had 10 tackles, including one for loss, in his six games last season.
