Cardinals Activate Lawrence, Brewer From IR; Edmonds Remains Out

Covid sidelines four Rams starters, including CB Jalen Ramsey

The Cardinals have activated defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (90) from injured reserve.
The Cardinals have activated defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (90) from injured reserve.

The Cardinals activated defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence and long snapper Aaron Brewer on Monday afternoon, clearing their availability to play against the Rams Monday night,

Running back Chase Edmonds was not activated and will remain out for at least one more game. He is expected back for the Cardinals' game in Detroit next week.

As the Cardinals brought back key parts, the Rams will be missing a couple for the game.

Monday afternoon, the Rams announced that All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey would not play because he was going on the Covid list. So too was starting tight end Tyler Higbee. The previous two days, the Rams had put two starters -- right tackle Rob Havenstein and running back Darrell Henderson, along with cornerback Dont'e Deayon -- on the Covid list.

Adding Lawrence back to the defensive line will be a boost to the rotation going against their division rival. Brewer's return should steady a special teams operation that has had a few hiccups since Brewer missed time and the Cards had to turn to fill-in Beau Brinkley.

Those were the only pre-game moves made, making the Rams game the first all season in which the Cardinals did not elevate any players from the practice squad. (Linebacker Joe Walker is available as a Covid replacement brought up earlier last week.)
