SEATTLE -- Trey Benson is eligible to return to practice as he rehabs from his bad knee, but he hasn't yet had his practice window opened while on Injured Reserve.
So the Cardinals, with an opening on the 53-man roster, promoted running back Michael Carter from the practice squad on Saturday. It's the second time this season the Cardinals have signed Carter to the roster from the practice squad. He joins Emari Demercado and Bam Knight as the running backs for the game.
The Cardinals had the open spot after putting quarterback Kyler Murray on Injured Reserve on Wednesday.
The Cardinals also elevated cornerback Darren Hall and linebacker Jared Bartlett from the practice squad. Hall was needed with Will Johnson and Max Melton out with injuries.
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Benson is "doing better" but said he remains day to day. Against Dallas on Monday night, Demercado led the Cardinals with 79 yards rushing on 14 carries. Knight had 27 yards on nine carries. Carter was active after being elevated from the practice squad, but did not play an offensive snap.
