The Cardinals' work got frantic on Monday afternoon, with three reported agreements with free agents in the span of 10 minutes all addressing key needs.
First came the news of Pro Bowl guard Isaac Seumalo from the Pittsburgh Steelers, at a position the Cardinals sought upgrades. Then came the return home of defensive lineman Roy Lopez, who left the Cardinals as a free agent last year but comes back to his hometown just as Dalvin Tomlinson was released. Then the Cardinals addressed their need for a third wide receiver behind Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr. by adding Kendrick Bourne, who played for the 49ers last season.
Seumalo, 32, will get a reported three-year, $31 million contract. Lopez will sign a two-year deal with $7M guaranteed, and Bourne will sign a two-year contract worth $10M.
Seumalo is the big get of the trio, after he allowed just a 3.7 pass pressure rate last season, best in the league for a guard. Playing on the left side -- that was manned by Evan Brown most of last season -- Seumalo has won a Super Bowl with the Eagles before signing with the Steelers in 2023. He started all 44 games he played with Pittsburgh and has 104 starts in his 10-year career.
Bourne had played for Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur during Bourne's first stint with the 49ers after being drafted in 2017. He also played for the Patriots before returning to San Francisco last season and making 37 receptions for 551 yards. His arrival should signify the end of Zay Jones' time in Arizona.
Lopez was an underrated part of the Cardinals defensive line in 2023 and 2024. He had 30 tackles and two sacks in 17 games as a reserve for the Lions, but his family ties undoubtedly made a return to Arizona a selling point.
These reports follow the previous reports of adding QB Gardner Minshew and running back Tyler Allgeier earlier in the day. None of the additions will be official until they arrive in the Valley to take physicals and sign their contracts. That process can't begin until 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
