A familiar face is returning to the Cardinals.
With Kyler Murray going to IR and the team needing a third quarterback, the Cardinals signed Jeff Driskel to the practice squad on Thursday.
Driskel has bounced around the NFL since he was drafted in 2016. In 2023, Jonathan Gannon's first season with the Cardinals, Driskel was on the practice squad in a quarterback room to Murray, Joshua Dobbs, and Clayton Tune. Murray was rehabbing from his 2022 ACL tear at the time.
The Browns signed Driskel off the practice squad to their active roster in Dec. 2023.
Since then, Driskel spent 2024 with the Commanders and a portion of the 2025 season with the Raiders. He has played in 25 games since 2018.
The decision to bring in Driskel allows the Cardinals to sign a quarterback that has familiarity with Drew Petzing's system and makes sure there is depth in case of an injury beyond Murray's. Murray must miss four games, making the Dec. 7 home game against the Rams the first one for which he would be eligible to return.
